Weathering Cyclone Zelia
This weekend, the Pilbara region including the townships of Paraburdoo and Tom Price braced for the impact of Cyclone Zelia.
At Bennco Engineering Pty Ltd, our values guided our decisions, and we prepared for the worst while hoping for the best.
I’m incredibly proud of the team’s efforts to ensure everyone’s safety while continuing to deliver our residential shutdown services in a calm and safe manner.
Our site readiness and administration team allocated housing for double our staff, and our management team made timely decisions, that would have enabled a calm and efficient demobilisation from site should it have been needed.
We appreciated the continuous communication and updates from our partners at hashtag#RioTinto, ensuring we were all aligned and prepared.
What truly impressed me was our team’s loyalty to our townships. They were ready to deploy equipment like bobcats or excavaters, lend a hand from filling and delivering sandbags to delivering generators, ensuring critical infrastructure was backed up. Our electricians ensured buildings were safely powered up, we delivered cyclone kits to all Bennco residential houses. Bennco Group
Management ensured all staff and their families houses were prepared, with shade sails down, loose items strapped down and ready for whatever might hit.
While Cyclone Zelia ultimately changed direction and missed us, I’m grateful for the best outcome. Well done to everyone for looking after one another and showcasing the true spirit of Bennco Engineering Pty Ltd.
